It’s so cold. And so white.

“It must also be stressed that this promotion of existential values and the values of desire will not present itself as a fullyfledged global alternative. It will result from widespread shifts in current value systems and from the appearance of new poles of valorization.” (Guattari, 2000, 65-66)

Here’s a new pole of valorization for us: Titan, the largest moon of Saturn.

Where did the values of desire go wrong? What was the mistaken turn from existential values? Did all the values shift to binary, everything to digital?

Someone wanted a ‘better catastrophe’ (Boyd, 2023) but there was none to be had. We were stuck with the bad catastrophe.

And so, now we have the ecology of Titan for ours to protect and serve, with its -179 degrees Celsius atmosphere of nitrogen and methane. (Huygens & Gill, n.d.) Welcome to our future.
